Race Volunteer Application

 

There is a long tradition of recreational events and ski competition in Jackson beginning with the mountain races of the mid 1930's organized by the Jackson Ski and Outing Club and extending into the 21st century.    Competitions include regular citizen's, high school, and college races, the Eastern Citizen's Championships (1980), the 1st U.S. Masters National Championships (1982), the NCAA National Championships (1984, 1995 and 2007), the Jackson International Relays (1985), the U.S. Ski Team Tryouts (1986), the Jackson International (1987), the World Nordic Championships for the Disabled (1990), the Jackson 2000  (U.S.S.A.'s Junior Olympics), the 2002 NENSA Masters' Championships, numerous UNH College Carnivals, the 2008 NENSA J2 Championships and this year the 6th Annual White Mtn Classic and the 2010 NENSA J2 Championships

All Events are held at the Jackson Ski Touring Center unless otherwise noted.

Specified Evenings 6:00 p.m. JSTF CLUB POT LUCK DINNERS. Nov 7, Dec 12, Jan 16, Feb 20 and Mar 20.  Wonderfully social evenings with fellow club members. Slide shows, clinics and demonstrations given by wise and adventurous skiers. Drawings and door prizes. WAXING DEMONSTRATIONS. A Monday morning tradition. Get the latest info from getting started to race fine-tuning. This waxing demonstration will make it all clear. All welcome. Free. Featuring Swix wax products.  Skill level:  Beginner to Expert

Easy Sliders
Tuesdays and Fridays 
Jan 5 - March 12

Easy Sliders
is a gentle introduction to cross country skiing and winter fitness for people who want to exercise but don’t quite know how to begin.  Open to absolute beginners on Tuesdays and Fridays starting in January. Each session is one hour of instruction and gentle practice.  Be ready to ski at 10:30.  If you need rentals come 20 minutes early.  The outdoor portion is  followed by refreshments by the fire in the base lodge. Rate is $10 for each session including rentals (for the session period only).  This program will introduce new skiers to basic XC technique and give participants  the chance to experience the fun and fitness benefit of our snow sport.  A whole world of winter trails is out there waiting for you, Easy Sliders is the way to start

Tuesday Trekkers
Jan 5 - Mar 23 – 1 p.m. like Friday Gliders but for snowshoers.  A social trek to explore the forest followed by refreshments by the fireplace.  Experience many wondrous winter things along the way.   $18 per person includes a day pass ($10 for annual members) or annual members may sign up for the season for only $45.  Questions about programs? Fridays Jan 1 - March 26 - 1 p.m.  Friday Gliders Classic Social Ski with Ski School Director Marianne Borowski and a host of other skiers.  Very fun and social with instructional tips along the way.  Includes après ski stretching and refreshments.  $22 per person includes day pass or $10 for annual members.  Or annual members may sign up for Friday Gliders for the season for only $55.  Skill level - experienced beginner to expert.

Saturdays 10 a.m. to Noon -  the very popular Snowshoe Instructional Nature Tour -- Our guide leads a group on a snowshoe outing and gives snowshoe technique tips along the way. It’s the perfect way to introduce yourself to snowshoeing and the winter woods.  Fee $10/$8 for annual members. Rental snowshoes are available in the Touring Center.  Skill Level:  First-timers to expert.
