access to an interesting view point on the course. Follow the signs.

one up at several locations around the valley. Spectators can also ski up to
the venue via the Yodel Trail (trail information available at Jackson XC
Base Lodge). Access to the excellent viewing areas is available. There will
be no skiing on the race trails during the races. Spectators may
walk or snowshoe to spectating areas once at the Race Venue. After the
race is over, spectators with proper trail passes may ski on the race
courses.
Being an informed Spectator
To make your spectating more fun
and comfortable, we suggest that you bring along the following: Sunglasses,
a camera, a backpack with snacks, a thermos of hot drinks and extra, warm
clothes. A small square of scrap rug to stand on will keep your feet
warmer. Noisemakers are fun and encouraged, especially cow bells, which
have a long history of making joyful noise at ski racing events around the
world. Waving flags also adds to the festivities!
An electronic scoreboard and
Olympic Announcer Peter Graves will keep you up-to-date with the
competitions. Graves will be calling all the action of at this year’s NCAA
Nordic and Alpine Ski Championships.
NCAA Memorabilia will be
available for purchase in the stadium area.
Start orders and race information
will also be posted on information boards at the entrance to the stadium
access points.
Knowing who is skiing fast can
increase your enjoyment when watching a cross country ski race. Here is a
tip: Wednesday’s NCAA race is an individual start race. This means that
skiers leave the start line one at a time in bib order 1,2,3 etc. every 30
seconds. Knowing this, when you see a skier you can determine whether that
skier is faster or slower than the skiers in front. If two racers are
skiing near each other, the higher bib number skier is ahead.
Friday’s NCAA race, all skiers
start at the same time, so the first skier is in the lead.
Enjoy the competition while
watching top college athletes from throughout the United States compete.
Skiing Opportunities
Jackson's vast trail
network is available to ski by spectators and parents. A
weekly ticket is available for unlimited use of the trails.
Check with the Jackson XC staff in the Base Lodge for trail
maps, ticketing information and rates.
