Jackson Ski Touring Foundation Named Best of New England
Jackson Ski Touring Foundation (JSTF), in the mountain village of Jackson, NH has been awarded Boston Magazine’s New England Travel & Life Best of New England 2006 for Best Cross Country Skiing in New England.
“This award affirms my belief that skiers, whether beginner or expert find Jackson superb place to ski,” commented Thom Perkins, the Foundation’s long time executive director. “It’s not just the trails but the whole nordic culture from the grooming and services to the inns, shops and restaurants that make up the experience. It is an honor to be recognized by Boston Magazine.”
The JSTF maintains the largest cross country ski trail system in the Eastern United States and has trails and programs for beginner as well as expert skiers. The Foundation will play host to the 2007 NCAA National Collegiate Nordic Ski Championships on March 7 and 9.
The Jackson Ski Touring Foundation, a non-profit membership organization with an international reputation, is chartered to maintain trails in and about Jackson village. The trail system uses the land of 73 private landowners as well as Town of Jackson municipal land, and operates on the White Mountain National Forest through a special-use permit. The Foundation relies on annual and daily membership dues to fund trail operations and programs.
