Restoration of
Stella - a 1967 Allied Seawind Ketch (hull #90 - f.k.a. Clam, f.k.a. Seal)
Stella was purchased on Mother's Day May 9th, 2004 and
restoration work began immediately. The photos below were taken during that 2004
process. Stella had been ashore for 3 years and had previously been sunk.
The engine had been replaced, new cushions made and the boat had been re-wired.

Here is Denise stripping
varnish from the deck rail with the decks as found when we
acquired her. Projects included installation of the head,
navigation instruments, replacing a broken port side deck
handrail by manufacturing a new custom rail (thank you Jon
Deveneau and Olof Ekbergh for your expertise), rebedding deck
hardware, replace cutlass bearing, repairing icebox, restoration
of the freshwater system, strengthening mizzen mast structural
bulkhead, restoring portlight gaskets, new bottom paint,
rebuilding anchor windlass, repairing dodger, replacing
anchor light, rebedding portlights, various rewiring, Sikiens on
deck mahogany, fairing and painting topsides and refreshing
non-skid, restore kerosene heater and replace burner, re-bed
charlie noble chimney. Stella was launched on June 4th.

Final taping of deck with non-skid and topsides refurbished
while at our mooring in Rockland Harbor, Maine, on Father's Day
June 20, 2004. We started cruising the next day.
